Current improvements
Our ongoing investment in the capital's transport network is improving London for everyone. Browse some of our improvements below:

A40 Westway
Work on the next phase of the project to refurbish the Westway is underway

A316 London Road roundabout
Improving the roundabout will make it easier to get to Twickenham town centre and improve journey times

A316 Manor Circus roundabout
We're working to make it safer for people to walk and cycle on the A316 near Richmond. Work began in August 2023 and will last until summer 2024

Battersea Bridge safety
We're taking steps at Battersea Bridge to make the area safer for people walking and cycling

Bollo Lane
Ealing Council has given us permission to develop some of our land along Bollo Lane to create more than 900 new homes to rent and buy in Acton

Colindale station step-free access
Colindale station will have step-free access and a spacious new ticket hall by autumn 2025

Cycleway 9
Cycleway 9 will make cycling and walking easier, safer and more appealing on roads in west Kensington, Hammersmith, Chiswick and Brentford town centre

Elephant & Castle station
Work has started to prepare Elephant & Castle station for a new entrance and ticket hall

Four Lines Modernisation
We're transforming the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines to increase capacity and boost reliability, making journeys faster and more comfortable

Hammersmith Bridge
We're supporting Hammersmith & Fulham Council to repair and reopen the bridge

High Speed 2 (HS2)
The railway being built by HS2 Ltd will start connecting to London's transport systems after 2029

Kentish Town station closure
Kentish Town Tube station is closed until the end of 2024 while we replace the escalators and improve station facilities

Kingston Cromwell Road bus station
The bus station will be closed until autumn 2024 while we redevelop it

Knightsbridge Tube station
Knightsbridge Tube station will have step-free access, reached by a new entrance at Hooper's Court, by mid-2024

Lambeth Bridge roundabouts
We aim to start work to transform the roundabouts at Lambeth Bridge from 2024

Leyton station step-free access
Leyton station will have step-free access and a spacious new ticket hall. Work will start in 2025

Naming London Overground lines
London Overground lines are to be renamed to make the network easier to navigate. We aim to rename the lines by December 2024

Nine Elms
Our work to help with regeneration around Nine Elms Lane and Battersea Park Road (A3205) is due to continue until 2025

Old Street roundabout and station
Work to make the Old Street area more pedestrian and cycle-friendly should be complete by early 2024

Paddington Bakerloo line ticket hall
Paddington Bakerloo line ticket hall has now reopened following the completion of works to improve the ticket hall

Piccadilly line upgrade
We're doing work to modernise the Piccadilly line and prepare for the arrival of new trains from 2025

Silvertown Tunnel
We're building a new tunnel under the Thames, linking Silvertown to the Greenwich Peninsula in east London

We're working to reduce congestion and improve access at South Kensington station

Step-free access
We're adding step-free access to more Tube and London Overground stations

Vauxhall Cross gyratory
We plan to return the one-way road system at Vauxhall to two-way roads

Plans are underway to regenerate Wandsworth town centre
