Ways to get around
The Ram Brewery redevelopment, alongside Wandsworth Council's plans to regenerate the town centre, will transform the local area for residents and create new opportunities for businesses.
As part of these changes, we have a plan to decrease traffic dominance in Wandsworth High Street and help rejuvenate the area.
Our proposals include:
A public consultation on the changes proposed for Wandsworth town centre ended in January 2016. The consultation report is on the Wandsworth town centre consultation page.
The timeline for this scheme includes a compulsory purchase order (CPO) process to get the additional land we need - this can take 18-24 months.
We hope to begin construction in late 2021. In the meantime, we will be surveying around Wandsworth town centre.
From October 2018, we will do CCTV surveys - using cameras in the drainage system - to check the condition of existing drainage around Wandsworth town centre. We will also be making trial holes in footways to check the location of utility services and ground conditions.
Traffic will still flow at all times, but short-term traffic management changes may be needed. Please allow more time for your journeys
Some short-term bus stop suspensions will be needed during the works. Notices will be put on any affected bus stops.
From 22-24 October 2018, loading and parking bay suspensions will be in place around Wandsworth gyratory between 09:30 and 16:30. Our contractors will be working for about one hour in each loading/parking bay before moving on to the next one to carry out trial holes. The temporary suspensions will be removed once work is finished in each loading/parking bay.
Footways and pedestrian crossings will stay open at all times, although footways will be narrower than usual. Access to properties will not be affected.
