T-Charge zone

The T-Charge operates in the same area as the Congestion Charge Zone, 07:00-18:00 Monday to Friday. Find out if an address or postcode is within the charging zone

Required emissions standards

The minimum emissions standards are:

  • Euro 4/IV for both petrol and diesel vehicles
  • Euro 3 for motorised tricycles and quadricycles

To confirm your euro standard for emissions, please read the Congestion Charging euro standard specifications which can be found in the Greater London (Central Zone) Congestion Charging Order 2004 (PDF 403KB).

Identify your vehicle's emissions standard

Your vehicle registration document (also known as the V5C) will help identify your vehicle's Euro emission standard.

You'll need to know when your vehicle was first registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, which is in section B of the document. If you don't have this, check the date by visiting Gov.uk's vehicle enquiry service.

For newer vehicles, the Euro emission standard may be listed on the V5C in section D.2.

Early adopters

A small number of vehicles manufactured before the Euro 4/Euro IV standard became mandatory will have NOx and PM emissions that meet Euro 4/Euro IV or better. These are known as early adopters and are not subject to the T-Charge.

If you think your vehicle is an early adopter you will need to register it with us. You'll need to continue paying the Congestion Charge plus the T-Charge until you receive a response to your registration application.
