From 25 October 2021, ULEZ is expanding from central London to create a single larger zone up to the North Circular Road (A406) and South Circular Road (A205). The North and South Circular Roads themselves are not included in the zone. Find out how to prepare for the ULEZ expansion.
Even if you make a short trip in the zone using a vehicle that doesn't meet the ULEZ emissions standards, you need to pay the daily change. However. if you are parked within the zone but don't drive, you don't need to pay the ULEZ charge.

Third-party organisations such as WAZE, a community-based GPS traffic and navigation app, can alert drivers if their planned route goes through the ULEZ area. Drivers can also indicate in that app if their vehicles meet the ULEZ standards.
Anyone using apps such as WAZE does so at their own risk. Other organisations may have similar ULEZ apps - we do not endorse or recommend any specific ones. Check back here for updates.
A daily charge runs from midnight to midnight. If you drive within the ULEZ area across two days, for example before midnight and after midnight, you need to pay two daily charges if your vehicle doesn't meet the ULEZ standards.

If your vehicle is affected there are ways to avoid the charge and/or meet the standards.
The ULEZ daily charge is:
If you drive a lorry, van, bus, minibus or other specialist vehicle and it currently meets the London-wide LEZ emissions standards, it may not meet the ULEZ standards for central London.
Owners of non-UK registered vehicles must also pay the ULEZ charge to drive within the zone if they do not meet the emissions standards.
Our vehicle checker holds information on many vehicles registered outside the UK. If we don't hold your vehicle's details you will get the option to submit a copy of your vehicle's registration document showing the Euro standard it was manufactured to.
From 25 October 2021 the ULEZ boundary will be expanded from central London to create a single larger zone up to the North and South Circular Roads. The North and South Circular Roads are not in the expanded zone. Vehicles using these roads and not going into the ULEZ will not be charged. If you are driving any petrol or diesel vehicle within the expansion you will also need to meet the tighter emissions standards or pay a daily charge.
This daily charge is in addition to the Congestion Charge if you drive in central London as well.
