Congestion Charge payments

You can pay in advance, on the day of travel or by midnight of the third day after travel. You need to pay a daily charge if you drive within the Congestion Charge zone 07:00-18:00 Mon-Fri, 12:00-18:00 Sat-Sun and bank holidays. No charge between Christmas Day and New Year's Day bank holiday (inclusive).

The daily charge is £15 if you pay in advance or on the same day, or £17.50 by midnight of the third day after travel.

If you don't pay by midnight on the third day after travel in the zone, you will receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

You can pay the Congestion Charge in several ways. It's quickest and easiest if you set up Auto Pay.

Auto Pay
The automated payment system will record the number of charging days a vehicle travels within the charging zone each month and automatically take payment from your debit card, credit card or via direct debit each month.
£15 Pay by Auto Pay
Pay in advance or by midnight on the day of travel
You can pay up to 90 days in advance. So, for example, you could pay for one day, a month or a year. Or you can pay after the journey on the day of travel.
£15 Pay online
By midnight of the third day after travel
You can only pay within the following three days online or by phone.

The TfL Pay to drive in London app

This free, official app helps you pay your Congestion Charge, ULEZ and Low Emission Zone (LEZ) charges.

You can also use the app to:

  • Set up Auto Pay
  • Pay a penalty
  • Check if a postcode is in a charging zone
  • Manage your account
  • Save your vehicle details for future use
  • See your payment history

If you already have an Auto Pay account you can also:

  • Add and remove vehicles from your account
  • View payment card details

If you set up an account with us you can:

  • Set up Auto Pay for up to five vehicles to pay the Congestion Charge automatically
  • Make faster payments by storing your contact, vehicle and payment details
  • Allow up to five people access to your London Road User Charging account
