The Mayor of London has implemented a range of schemes to help drivers in London scrap their older, more polluting vehicles to meet required emissions standards. Scrappage grants are available for small businesses, charities and low income-and disabled Londoners. By taking these older Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) and Low Emission Zone (LEZ) non-compliant vehicles off the capital's roads we can help clean up London's air.
The available grants are outlined here. Choose the type of vehicle that you own to find out more. You can see if you are eligible to apply, how to make an application or, if you have already successfully applied, how to submit evidence that you have scrapped or retrofitted your vehicle
Grant £1,000 - £2,000
The ULEZ Car and motorcycle scrappage grant is available to those who live within the 32 London boroughs or the City of London and receive certain means-tested or non means-tested disability benefits. They can apply for a grant to scrap cars and motorcycles that don't meet the ULEZ emissions standards.
Grant £7,000 - £9,500
Due to unprecedented demand and limited funds, the Scrappage Scheme is currently suspended for van applications. New applications are not being accepted. If you've already applied to the scheme and received a confirmation of eligibility letter you can continue to scrap your vehicle and submit your evidence to claim your grant payment.
Due to unprecedented demand and limited funds, the Scrappage Scheme for ULEZ non-compliant HGVs, vans and other specialist vehicles (over 3.5 tonnes GVW) and buses, coaches and minibuses (over 5 tonnes GVW) is currently suspended for new applications. If you've already applied to the scheme and received a confirmation of eligibility letter, you can continue to scrap your vehicle and submit your evidence to claim your grant payment.
If you have already applied to the scheme and you have now scrapped or retrofitted your vehicle you will need to submit your evidence to claim your grant payment. To do this select the scheme you applied under and follow the instructions.
