We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2739-1920

Thank you for your request (copy attached) received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29th November 2019 asking various questions about the transport system in London.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. Your questions are answered below (so far as we can answer them). Note that where answers to your questions are referencing published material we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information directly as it is already accessible to you elsewhere, in accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act.

1. What is the offical website of the London Municipality office?

It is not entirely clear what is meant by “London Municipality office”. The Transport for London website address is: https://tfl.gov.uk/    The website of the GLA (the Greater London Authority) is: https://www.london.gov.uk/

2. List of Public and private transport companies names, offical websites, ownership, total network coverage in miles and total number of facilities; operating within the London premises (buses, subways, car sharing).

TfL does not hold a list of all public and private transport providers in London, nor the subsequent details you request. However, a wealth of information about the different transport modes provided under the TfL banner can be found on our website via the followng link:

https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/about-tfl/what-we-do?intcmp=2582#on-this-page-0

Note also that we publish a regular series of reports which summarise trends and developments in travel and transport in Greater London. The reports are published on our website here – the latest issue is Report 11:

https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/travel-in-london-reports

3. The list of coverage per inhabitant in miles with respect to the service (buses, subways, car sharing).

It is not entirely clear what you mean by “the list of coverage per inhabitant in miles…”. However, I would refer you to the Travel In London reports referenced above which contain detailed information about all TfL services.  More data is published on our website here: https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/open-data-users/ and on the GLA website here: https://data.london.gov.uk/publisher/tfl   If you have any specific questions about any specific TfL modes of transport having reviewed the published data then please feel free to write to us again.

4. List of parking forbidden, traffic forbidden and pedestrian areas.

TfL does not hold the requetsed data. The vast majority of roads in London are managed by London’s local authorities. TfL is only responible for managing London’s major roads – which account for about 5% of the total road network. More information about our “red route” road network can be found on our website here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/red-routes

The following section provides information about the rules of the red routes:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/red-routes/rules-of-red-routes?intcmp=2192

5. Aerial maps with the pin areas of the above mentioned transport systems as per total coverages areas ( separate maps will be preferred).

The maps which TfL produces of our network can be found on our website here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/maps

For aerial maps you can compare these maps with the satellite view provided by services such as Google maps:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5286417,-0.1015987,42845m/data=!3m1!1e3

6. Motorization rate and total registered vehicles.

It is not entirely clear what information is being requested – car drivers in London are not specifically required to “register” vehicles with TfL (although driverscan register an account with us – for example, for payment of the Congestion Charge). I would suggest you review the material published on our website referenced above (for example, chapter 7 of Travel in London report 11 provides information about trends in motorised road travel in London) and, if you have any specific questions after that, please feel free to contact us again

7. Out of registered vehicles how many of them are electric or normal?

Please see the answer to question 6 above.

8. The official link for congestion charges system.

Information about the congestion charge can be found on our webiste here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,

David Wells
