FOI request detail

Park and Ride / Park and Cycle facilities

Request ID: FOI-1725-1920
Date published: 23 September 2019

You asked

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting the following information related to the availability of Park and Ride or Park and Cycle facilities for drivers entering London. Across the UK, local authorities in major towns and cities provide drivers (commuters, shoppers, casual visitors, tourists, etc) with the ability to park on the outskirts and take a bus or other public transport to the city centre or work location. Many cities have added Park and Cycle facilities to their Park and Ride locations. In that context, can you please tell me: 1) The locations of Park and Ride sites in and around London where drivers can leave their vehicles and travel on the Transport for London network 2) The number of parking spaces available at each of those sites 3) The cost of parking at each of those sites 4) The locations of Park and Cycle sites in and around London where drivers can leave their vehicles and cycle to work or into the city 5) Where separate from Park and Ride sites, the number of available parking spaces and the cost of using a Park and Cycle facility 6) The number of Park and Ride / Park and Cycle sites, with the number of parking spaces, Transport for London plans to create in the next two years. Please can the information be provided by email. Should the data already be available, please could you provide me with URL links to the information. That would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9 September 2019.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  Unfortunately we do not hold the information you require. You asked for:

1) The locations of Park and Ride sites in and around London where drivers can leave their vehicles and travel on the Transport for London network

2) The number of parking spaces available at each of those sites

3) The cost of parking at each of those sites

4) The locations of Park and Cycle sites in and around London where drivers can leave their vehicles and cycle to work or into the city

5) Where separate from Park and Ride sites, the number of available parking spaces and the cost of using a Park and Cycle facility

6) The number of Park and Ride / Park and Cycle sites, with the number of parking spaces, Transport for London plans to create in the next two years.

TfL doesn’t offer Park and Ride and Park and Cycle facilities in London and therefore we do not hold the information you asked for.

However, there is parking at our tube stations with car parks, as well as free blue badge parking. The car parks are managed by National Car Parks (NCP). For a full list of the car parks, spaces available and cost please see the NCP website at  https://www.ncp.co.uk/parking-solutions/transport-for-london-car-parks/

For cycle parking, please visit the TfL website for more information https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/cycling-in-london/cycle-parking Furthermore, TfL has launched the Cycling Infrastructure Database which contains the location of more than 240,000 pieces of cycling infrastructure in London, including places to park. There are also more than 750 cycle hire docking stations across London. The docking station map is available on our website https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/santander-cycles/find-a-docking-station

Please see a copy of the Cycle Parking Implementation Plan for information on TfL’s plans for more cycle parking at https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/cycling. The plan includes a set of short term targets to install cycle parking where it would support the most cycle journeys. It follows the Mayor's Cycling Action Plan which set out measures to double the number of cycle journeys in the capital over the next six years.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
