I would like statistics around the performance of the London Underground, particularly statistics regarding services being delayed or cancelled for technical reasons over the last 6 months. If you don't keep records for this time frame, I'll happily accept any records you do have. Thank you.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23 February 2018 asking for information about London Underground performance data.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

In order to reduce signal failures across the network we are replacing old track, improving drainage, cleaning block joints at regular intervals and improving the insulation between track sections using a new type of rail joint. We are also upgrading signalling systems, including a £5.4 billion programme to modernise the signalling on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. This will result in greater capacity and frequency, as well as improved reliability and customer information on the sub-surface network.

The figures in the attachment reflect the number of times that an issue was initially diagnosed as a signal failure. However, upon investigation, some of these issues are found to either be track faults, power failures or instances of human error rather than signal failures.
