Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 February 2024, asking for information about PHV Parking on Taxi Ranks.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act / Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
  • How many PCN's were issued for non-exempt vehicles parked on TfL appointed Taxi Ranks ie those on red routes or red route relief roads (not boroughs) in the period 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023.

Two penalty charge notices (PCNs) were issued between the period 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023 for the reason code ‘Parked on a Taxi Rank’.

A total of 18 PHV drivers were reported by our officers for leaving their vehicles unattended or illegally parked on a rank, between 1 January and 31 December 2023. All the 18 PHV drivers would have received warning letters as per our business rules.

Please note this is a separate reporting process to the one used to answer question one.

All intelligence received, regardless of source is analysed in order to deploy our Operations Officers to persistent problem locations to deter drivers from parking PHVs on Taxi Ranks and engage with drivers to encourage positive behaviours.

How much money has been collected in Penalty Charge Notices for the above for non-exempt vehicles parked on TfL appointed Taxi Ranks i.e., those on red routes or red route relief roads.

£80 has been paid towards the PCNs.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
