Hi, I was wondering what the guidelines were on the colours of TFL buses. I've seen a fair few buses in colours that are nowhere near TFL 'Corporate Red'. For example, the buses in advertising liveries, Superloop buses, or Go-Ahead's old vehicles (such as LX07BYG/E61) that retained their original liveries from the 2000s, and were running TFL services until may 2023. How much of an individual bus *has* to be red for it to be allowed? What exceptions can be made aside from full-body advertising wraps? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on17 January 2024 asking for information about livery colour standards.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Our corporate guidelines state that the standard livery for a London Bus is Corporate Red. However, we reserve the right to create a bespoke livery for a particular route or service. Corporate liveries are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are supported by an Equality Impact Assessment. There are no existing restrictions on the amount of a bus that needs to be red. However, all exterior and interior statutory signs are retained, irrespective of the livery treatment and this includes: the bus identification markings; the address of the operator; the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA)required signage to indicate step-free access is available on the bus; the route number and destination that is displayed on the front, nearside and rear of a bus.
