Request ID: FOI-3005-2122 Date published: 08 April 2022
You asked
I'm aware that location of cameras do not need to be disclosed, however the act of entering a ulez zone should be provided to the public, simply publicising an extension of a zone is not enough, as your data may suggest, the coverage of that publification, is restricted specifically to the London region. I hereby request access to the data that registers on the act of entering a ulez zone, for best compliance from the public, this is necessary. With this data it will be possible to enable full awareness of ulez expansion. As noted, the current publication is not recognised as its regionally dictated.

TfL Ref: FOI-3005-2122
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26th March 2022 asking for information about the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“I'm aware that location of cameras do not need to be disclosed, however the act of entering a ulez zone should be provided to the public, simply publicising an extension of a zone is not enough, as your data may suggest, the coverage of that publification, is restricted specifically to the London region. TfL monitors entry into the ULEZ via a network of Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras which links to information held by the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which then confirms a vehicle’s compliance status. Data on the number of daily charges paid and Penalty Charge Notices issue is published on our website via the following link - scroll down to the section titled “Finance, operations & performance” where you will find quarterly ULEZ factsheets which contain the data:
More general information about the operation of the ULEZ scheme - including maps of the zone and a postcode checker, whereby drivers can check in advance whether their journey will take them into the zone - can be found on our website here:
