Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would like to request the following information regarding accidents that have taken place on the Royal Docks Road near Gallions Reach Shopping Park in Beckton: (opposite side where B&Q is 1. The number of accidents that have occurred on this road in the last 3 years. 2. The details of the accident that took place on 5th Feb , including the number of casualties and the cause of the accident. 3. Who is responsible for maintaining and managing the road in question. I would prefer to receive this information in an electronic format, if possible. If there are any fees for this request, please let me know in advance. I would be grateful if you could acknowledge receipt of this request as soon as possible and let me know when I can expect a response. Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 February 2023 asking for information about personal injury collisions on Royal Docks Road.
 
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
 
1.             The number of accidents that have occurred on this road in the last 3 years.

Please note that under section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act we are not obliged to provide you with information which is reasonably accessible by other means.
 
2.             The details of the accident that took place on 5th Feb , including the number of casualties and the cause of the accident.
Our records show that at 20:30 on the 5 February 2023 a collision between two cars occurred on Royal Docks Road, 100 metres south of the junction with Armada Way. As a result of this collision there were five casualties, one occupant was fatally injured.
 
Further details are exempt from disclosure under section 31 of the Act, as disclosure could prejudice an ongoing investigation. The use of this exemption is subject to an assessment of the public interest in relation to the disclosure of the information concerned. We recognise the need for openness and transparency by public authorities, but in this instance feel that balance lies in favour of withholding the information to ensure that a full investigation can be completed to determine the cause of the collision.
 
3.             Who is responsible for maintaining and managing the road in question.
Transport for London is responsible for maintaining and managing Royal Docks Road.
