Our ref: FOI-2451-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 October 2024 asking for information about London Underground Tube delays.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. Our network is a lot bigger and more complex than most other metro systems, so we understand the impact each disruption / delay has on services across the city. Therefore, we always try our best to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure there are alternative ways to make journeys.
Please find attached the requested information and note that when recording disruptions, London Underground only captures the primary cause of a delay and not all individual trains that were consequentially delayed/cancelled. We have provided the percentage of Service Operated, which is defined as the percentage of trains that have passed through a measuring point compared with the scheduled timetable. If there is no service scheduled on a section of the line on a particular day (for example due to engineering works), the date will not appear in the report. Periodic Service Operated data and more detailed guidance notes on this metric are published at: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/underground-services-performance
Please be aware, performance in some years - particularly 2020/21 - were impacted by measures to support London's critical workers to make essential journeys and to stop non-essential social contact during the Covid-19 virus outbreak. This means that some lines operated a reduced service while others like the Waterloo and City line were closed for that period.
If you are not satisfied with this response, please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
Tahsin Prima
