Before lockdown I attended a presentation by a TfL employee where I wrote down that he said there are 800,000 bicycle stands (Sheffield stands) throughout London.

We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-2447-2122
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27th January 2022 asking for information about the number of bike stands in London.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Before lockdown I attended a presentation by a TfL employee where I wrote down that he said there are 800,000 bicycle stands (Sheffield stands) throughout London.
Is this really true?
Can you please confirm how many bike stands in London there are today please?”
I am afraid that TfL does not hold the requested information as we do not maintain a record of how many bike stands there are in London. We cannot, therefore, verify the figure you cite.
