Request ID: FOI-2325-2223 Date published: 05 January 2023
You asked
With the Ulez targeting pollution only from vehicle exhausts, can you provide a breakdown of PM2.5 pollution by source, as a percentage of total pollution.
Can you provide a summary of how much the pollution reduction will be from Ulez when compared to all sources of PM2.5 pollution and provide an overall envisaged percentage reduction by year, going forward so we can compare the effectiveness of the policy over time as PM2.5 pollution is attributable to other sources which are not subject to any policies to limit or improve them, for instance vehicle brake dust.

Information on PM2.5 pollution and emissions is available on the TfL website at https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/ultra-low-emission-zone#on-this-page-1. There you can find ULEZ monitoring reports which look at the impacts on the ULEZ in Central London from 2019 and then the expansion from October 2021. A one year on ULEZ monitoring report will also be prepared next year.
