The STATS19 contributory factors used were factors 306 – exceeding speed limit, 307 – travelling too fast for conditions, 602 – careless, reckless or in a hurry.

Up to six can be assigned to one collision. Contributory factors are the reporting officer's opinion at the time of reporting and may not be the result of extensive investigation.

Collision data extract files are available for 2005 to 2018 on our website for further analysis: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/road-safety
