We answered

Our Ref:         FOI-2087-2324

Thank you for your request received on 15 September 2023 asking for information about the renaming of Bond Street Station to ‘Burberry Street’.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. You asked for:

1)         Did a company or external organisation pay for this? If so:

a.         How much did they pay?

TfL received £200k of sponsorship revenue from Burberry for the temporary station rename. In addition to this, Burberry covered all printing and production costs. Full details of this agreement can be found at the following link: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/burberry-station-contract-acc.pdf

b.         Please disclose all correspondence with the company about the re-decoration.

An answer to this was issued in response to a recent, similar FOI request which can be seen here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-2088-2324

2)         How much did the re-decoration cost to perform?

There was no cost to TfL to rebrand the station. All printing and productions costs were paid by Burberry.

3)         Were any Impact Assessments made, such as potential confusion to tourists? Please disclose them if so.

An answer to this was issued in response to a recent, similar FOI request which can be seen here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-2110-2324

4)         What was the highest level/grade of sign-off for this re-decoration? Please disclose the briefing or documentation given to them for approval.

All commercial activations and partnerships are subject to comprehensive approval processes from several parts of the business which will vary according to the project. A campaign on a page document is created and shared in advance with all key directors and project stakeholders, please find a copy attached. In this instance, the temporary station rename concept was approved by The Head of Customer, Information Design and Partnerships and The Customer Director.

5)         Was either City Hall or the Mayor of London personally informed or sought for approval?

City Hall were informed about the project prior to it going live.
