We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2035-2223

Thank you for your request of 17th November 2022 asking for information about accidents within the Congestion Charging Zone since March 2018.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

If you have reduced the speed limit within the Congestion Charging Zone since March 2020, could you tell me the average number of accidents since March 2020 compared with the average between 2018 -2020 please?”

I can confirm that we hold the information you require, which is provided in the attached spreadsheet. This shows personal injury collision numbers within the Congestion Charge Zone by month from January 2018 to July 2022 (the latest processed information available). The data is split by ‘Borough’ roads (those managed by local authorities) and the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN - roads managed by TfL - sometimes known as the ‘red routes’. See here for more information: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/red-routes). The combined total across both Borough roads and the TLRN is also shown. This data shows that the average number of personal injury collisions since March 2020 (i.e. from 1st March 2020 to the end of July 2022) is 70.4 collisions per month. The average between 2018 -2020 (i.e. from 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2020) was 103 collisions per month.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
