TfL Ref: 2026-1617
Thank you for your emails received on 16 January 2017 and 13 February 2017, asking for a breakdown, by the name of each private hire operator involved, of the recorded crime figures for 2013, 2014 and 2015 which we published in table 1 on the webpage below:
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested. The information provided by the police that is reported in table 1 does not always identify a driver or operator. As stated in the information provided above table 1, the figures relate to reports recorded annually by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and City of London Police (CoLP) of sexual offences committed by a licensed or bogus driver against a fare-paying passenger. The figures include both licensed taxi or private drivers and those bogus drivers posing as taxi or private hire drivers.
TfL do hold information about drivers charged and summonsed for years 2014 and 2015. However, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, information that identifies an individual may be exempt from disclosure under Freedom of Information. Additionally, in the event of criminal proceedings leading to a conviction, TfL are not routinely informed about any possible reporting restrictions imposed by the court in order to prevent the positive identification of any of the parties involved. Any data we do hold which could identify an individual would be likely to be exempt from disclosure under one or other of the provisions of the Acts.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
