TfL Ref: FOI-1895-2122
Thank you for your request of 10th November 2021 asking for information about mask-wearing on TfL services.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“1. How many passengers have been denied travel since the introduction of the revised Conditions of Carriage?
2. How many passengers have received a fine since the introduction of the revised Conditions of Carriage?”.
I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
In answer to question 1, between 19th July 2021 (the date of the change) and 10th November 2021 (the date of your request):
- 408 people were prevented from boarding a TfL service or entering a TfL station;
- 126 were directed to leave a TfL service or station.
The answer to the second question is none, as the Conditions of Carriage did not allow the issuing of fines during this period.
