Vision Zero Action Plan
Request ID: FOI-1550-1920
Date published: 16 September 2019
You asked
My question pertains to Figure 19 on Page 59 of the Mayor's Vision Zero Action Plan (vehicle danger for people cycling 2014 - 2016)
A figure is given of 1.68 for Taxi AND Private Hire.
Could you separate the figures for Taxi and for Private Hire.
If this is not possible could you provide a break down for Engine Cubic Capacity for the recorded figures that were used for Taxi and Private Hire within Figure 19 on page 59.
Could you also give the total number of vehicles which were recorded under Taxi and Private Hire within Figure 19 on page 59.
We answered
TfL Ref: 1550-1920
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 22 August 2019 asking for information about figures in the Vision Zero Action Plan.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as we cannot separate taxi and private hire vehicles in the collision data recorded by the police before the introduction of the COPA (Case Overview and Prosecution Application) system by the police in late 2016 (as applied to data with effect from January 2017). We are in the process of a data matching exercise to see whether it is possible to produce a more detailed breakdown and if successful will look to publish this in the coming months.
You can access the data on Taxis and private hire vehicles (reported as one category) as set out by the Department for Transport’s STATS20 instructions using the following link:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/230596/stats20-2011.pdf. Similarly as above the DfT do not require the collection of the vehicle engine cubic capacity for taxi or private hire vehicles under STATS20 instructions.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
