Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:
What are the plans in this regard to fix the look of Canning Town bus station which has been a look of a construction site for nearly 2 years now?
The project team have instructed our contractors to progress with concept design. This first part of which is to provide a price and programme. Therefore, costs will be sought for all options, along with a risk assessment and appropriate testing to allow for an informed decision on the design to be taken forward.
Are there repairs planned for the Canning Town bus station ceiling post the July 2021 incident? chosen.
The contractors are currently working on the concept design for the repairs.
When will the station get back to its former clean look with all temporary support fixtures chosen?
Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific date yet. We will be in a better position to answer this question, once the programme of works have been received.
What is the estimated cost if these repairs and is TFL able to claim these from insurers or the construction firm who built the ceiling?
This feasibility study was reviewed by TfL’s Built Environment Engineering Team, who have carried out an independent review, assessment of the incident and have provided a Technical Requirements Specification for this project.
Please provide any relevant correspondence with Newham council in regards to repair work/plans to fix the current situation
Unfortunately we don’t hold this information. Once the programme of works have been received from our contractor, we will be arranging a meeting with Newham Council officers to discuss our plans.
What decisions have been taken post receiving the feasibility study and what timelines are there to decide and implement the repair?
Please refer to question 5. Once the programme of works have been received from our contractor we will be in a better position to understand the timeline to deliver the most suitable solution.
