TfL Ref: 3510-2223 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27 March 2023 asking for information about Canning Town Bus Station.. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:
1. What are the plans in this regard to fix the look of Canning Town bus station which has been a look of a construction site for nearly 2 years now?
We can advise that a crash deck has been temporarily installed at the Bus Station to prevent the risk of injury, should the canopy glazing fail again. The repairs required at Canning Town Bus Station are included in our capital investment programme plans, and are therefore budgeted accordingly. A feasibility report has been received and an option to progress is currently being selected. Once a suitable option has been chosen, a programme to complete the required works and therefore remove the crash deck will be confirmed. 2. Are there repairs planned for Canning Town bus station ceiling post the July 2021 incident? chosen. Yes, the option to progress is currently being finalised and will determine the construction programme. 3.When will station get back to its former clean look with all temporary support fixtures chosen. As mentioned previously, the option to progress is currently being finalised and will determine the construction programme. In the meantime, we continue to implement regular cleaning and maintenance of the Bus Station. 4. What is estimated cost if these repairs and is TFL able to claim these from insurers or the construction firm who built the ceiling? The cost is unknown at present until a suitable design has been selected. As the building is over twenty years old, it is no longer under warranty. 5. Please provide the feasibility study that was due to be completed by November 2022 in this regard? Please see the attached feasibility study, which has been carried out by a specialist glazing company. In accordance with TfL’s obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), some personal data has been removed from this study, as required by section 40 of the FOI. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the legislation, specifically the first principle of the GDPR, which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful.
