Request ID: FOI-1329-2223 Date published: 22 September 2022
You asked
Hello,
Further to the data supplied for the FOI request FOI-0411-2223 on 24 June 2022, I would like to request updated data for the same datasets for recent months, i.e. Trial period 13 (June 6-July 5 2022), Trial period 14 (July 6-Aug 5 2022) and, if available at the time of response, Trial period 15 (Aug 6-Sep 4 2022). This will help me with continuous monitoring of the trial.
This includes e-scooter trips dataset updated for Trial period 13,14 and 15 (if available) including:
• Duration
• Distance
• Average speed
• Origin latitude and longitude
• Destination latitude and longitude
• Month in which trip undertaken
As per the previous FOI request (FOI-0411-2223), this also includes e-scooter incidents dataset updated for Trial period 13,14 and 15 (if available) including:
• By street name
• Type of injury
• Month of incident
In addition, could you please provide monthly data for the maximum number of e-scooters deployed in each borough since the start of trial (Trial period 1) until Trial period 15 (if available, or until Trial period 14 or the latest period you have available for this) to give an idea of how the operating area and scheme size has expanded/changed across London boroughs over time.
Look forward to receiving the data,
Clarification received 06/09/2022: Apologies for the miscalculations.
We need the data for trial period 14,15 and 16 if available. So for June 6 to latest date available at the time of responding to the request (Aug end/early Sept).

TfL Ref: FOI-1329-2223
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30th August 2022 - and clarified on 6th September 2022 - asking for information about the rental e-scooter trial.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked: “Further to the data supplied for the FOI request FOI-0411-2223 on 24 June 2022, I would like to request updated data for the same datasets for recent months, i.e. Trial period 13 (June 6-July 5 2022), Trial period 14 (July 6-Aug 5 2022) and, if available at the time of response, Trial period 15 (Aug 6-Sep 4 2022). So for June 6 to latest date available at the time of responding to the request (Aug end/early Sept). I can confirm that we hold the information you require, which is provided in the three attached spreadsheets.
Please note that the associated comments and explanations made in response to the previous request FOI-0411-2223 (https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-0411-2223) continue to apply. Further, in respect of the maximum fleet size data, please note the following: The data in the spreadsheet includes the highest fleet value for all 10 boroughs involved in the trial, for Trial Periods 1-16. It is calculated from the operators' own datasets sent to TfL. Note that:
It is the highest number of scooters on street for any given day in that trial period.
As Scooters can move between boroughs, there is a discrepancy with the total permitted fleet size.
Where the value is zero, boroughs were not participants of the trial in that trial period.
Trial period 16 only includes data from 1/08/22 - 14/08/22 (2 weeks).
