Thank you for your email received on 31 August 2017 asking for information about the cost of TfL taxi and private hire enforcement activities.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you have requested.
Transport for London’s (TfL’s) reporting periods operate from April to March and the information you require is not readily available in the format you request. We are however able to supply this information for the financial year 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017. During the financial year 2016/17 the total Taxi & Private Hire (TPH) compliance and enforcement team related costs allocated to vehicles were £3.38m; Private Hire vehicles £3.13m and Taxi vehicles £0.25m.
We receive no income exclusively from the issue of licence plates. The cost of supplying plates is included as part of the licence application fee charged by TfL.
TfL carries out compliance checks against London licensed drivers and vehicles. We do not calculate costs against activity based on the location of work.
