We answered
Our ref: FOI-1103-1819/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23 July 2018 asking for information about buses being stationary in box junctions.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
TfL may issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) to any vehicle observed contravening a traffic restriction on the red route network. Bus services in London are run by private operators who have been awarded a contract by TfL; PCNs are therefore issued to the private operators. Information about bus operating companies can be found on our website at: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/bus-fleet-data-and-audits .
For yellow box contraventions observed between 1 May 2017 and 31 May 2018, we issued 752 PCNs to vehicles registered under the names of TfL’s contracted bus operating companies. We do not record the type of vehicle that a PCN is issued to, therefore it is not possible to identify how many of those PCNs were issued to buses.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
