For the period April 2018 to March 2024, how many electronic devices capable of carrying personal data (i.e. smartphones, tablets, laptops, external storage/ USB drives) were handed into TfL lost property?
Could I have the following breakdowns included in the report:
• By year
• By mode of transport
• By type of electronic device.
• Approximate value of the device (if available)

We answered
Our ref: FOI-1093-2425/GH Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4 July 2024 asking for information about electronic devices received by our Lost Property Office.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require – please see below:
Note that the information related to items recorded as the main item lost and includes any items that have since been claimed. We have not included where items are identified within the contents of bags or other items as this would require a manual review of a considerable amount of data. Items which remain unclaimed after three months from the date of loss becomes the property of TfL.
We remove and securely destroy any personal data. Any items that are not claimed are either donated to charity, recycled, disposed of or sold.
