You asked
Hi,
I had some revenue inspections failed in the past years and I would like to clarify how the contactless cards are read by your devices.
Based on my knowledge I know that revenue inspectors can't actually see on the spot if the contactless card is touched in or not, but they just can see if the card is blocked or not.
On some occasion I was checked and the officers tried to fine me but after making this present to them they let me go.
On other occasions I was checked on the train directly and after being checked the officer just said thank you and let me go.
The day after the card was blocked and I was charged the maximum fare, which I'm totally fine with, but I don't think the penalty fare I received recently was actually fair based on the situation.
I reported the officer that tried to fare me in the past and I was always given back the money and the card were unblocked, it seems that there are double standards for revenue inspection based on the officers.
So I would like a clarification on how your devices works on reading travel on contactless please.
