Weekly usage data for bus routes 12 and 45

I would like to submit an FOI for the average weekly usage (total number of travellers) for bus routes 12 and 45 for each year since 2015. I would also like comparison data of the average weekly usage for all London bus routes over the same period. If you only have more recent data then I will accept annual average weekly usage data over a shorter time period.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9 June 2022 asking for information about average bus passenger numbers.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked: I would like to submit an FOI for the average weekly usage (total number of travellers) for bus routes 12 and 45 for each year since 2015. I would also like comparison data of the average weekly usage for all London bus routes over the same period. If you only have more recent data then I will accept annual average weekly usage data over a shorter time period.

Please find below the annual average weekly demand figures for routes 12 and 45, and comparison figures for all Central London routes, and all routes on the network.

Note that the definition of a “Central London” route in this context is a route that serves at least one of the following borough areas:
 
  • City of London
  • Hackney
  • Islington
  • Tower Hamlets
  • Camden
  • City of Westminster
  • Hammersmith and Fulham
  • Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
  • Lewisham
  • Southwark
  • Lambeth
