TfL Ref: FOI-0324-2324

Thank you for your request which we received on 25 May 2023, asking about traffic data at the junction of Lewisham Way (A20) with Malpas Road and Florence Road.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

  1. We would like the data of traffic coming from the TLRN into either Malpas Road or Florence from the A2. Please could I have the last 5 years of data for this junction?

Please find attached the traffic count data we have from the junction in question. One set is from the junction of Lewisham Way (A20) and Malpas/Florence Road and the other set is from the junction of the A2 and Florence Road. Both are from March 2018. These are the only traffic counts we hold from these locations in the last 5 years.

  1. We would also like to know how TfL is reducing traffic on their network.

This junction usually operates a system which uses detectors in the ground to ascertain the demand for each approach and the timings for each approach are automatically adjusted depending on the demand. Unfortunately, due to a fault, this junction is currently running a fixed duration on all approaches, but this will be resolved shortly.

3. How if TfL working with Lewisham council to mitigate the impact of traffic moving from the TLRN into local streets.
