FOI request detail

vehicle kilometres driven within the CCZ

Request ID: FOI-0199-2021

You asked

I'm a student at the University of Potsdam and the Technische Universtät Berlin. I'm still writing on my Bachelor thesis. It surveys the impact of the congestion charging zone on the external costs. To quantify these externalities I use the handbook of the European commission/DELFT. What I really need are the driven vehicle kilometres in the London congestion charging zone. There are a few estimations for all vehicles in the fifth impacts monitoring report or Travel in London, Report 2 page 284, Table 11.5. But that only is from 2002 up to 2006 or 2005 to 2008. Unfortunately the DfT data does not show the central London congestion charging zone. Because its definition of central london ist not the CCZ. Are there any more current (like the years from 2002 to 2018) information on the driven vehicle kilometres in the CCZ? Also annual information of some externalities (e.g. air pollution) by vehicle type would be awesome.

Our ref: FOI-0199-2021/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10 May 2020 asking for information about Congestion Charging.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require. However, we do not data on kilometres travelled in the Congestion Charging zone.

As you are aware, we do produce an annual Travel in London report and these are available on our website at https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/travel-in-london-reports

The latest report, 12, for 2019, does contain some information on kilometres travelled etc in Section 9. Section 10 also includes information on pollution.

Please note, the Government has announced a series of measures to tackle the coronavirus. It is essential for London, that we continue to provide a safe transport network for essential journeys.

In current circumstances, we are not able to answer FOI requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.

Answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. In any event, please note that our response time will be affected by the current situation.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
