Thank you for your request of 7th May 2021 asking for information about the licencing of London taxis.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“I’m after a breakdown of vehicle types for ‘hackney’ carriages in the 9 different yellow badge areas and in the green badge area – is this something you can help with? I.e Tx4, Metrocab, TX-E, etc.”
And further clarified as follows:
“My request is for both all the vehicles licensed or just the types which exist in each area.
I am afraid that TfL does not hold the requested information. Taxis (as in the vehicles) are not licensed to specific areas, only the drivers are, and those drivers may share or rent vehicles. We therefore do not hold any information about where the taxis themselves operate because they can be operated by different drivers with different badges.
