You asked
Dear Sir/Madam,
We have a large protected Lime Tree in our front garden on Camberwell New Road.
We get the crown of the tree reduced by about 30% every four years. This year I have approached the tree surgeons who we always use who have told us that instead of the usual £1200, the cost will be well over £3000 due to the charges levied by TFL as this work involves closing one of the two lanes on our road heading towards Vauxhall.
Can you please confirm:
• What the TFL charges are for closing a lane on a red route per hour or for a morning (the work usually takes about 4 to 5 hours)?
• Whether charges vary? Would the charge be less at the weekend or in the afternoon?
• Whether TFL can reduce these charges under any circumstances?
• Whether there is any reduction for trees that are listed and what we can do to them is very restricted.
Yours faithfully
