Congestion Charge

Request ID: FOI-4716-1718
Date published: 20 March 2018

You asked

Is there anywhere on the TfL website where I can find data with the reduction of cars since october 2017 when the Congestion Charge was modified and cars before 2006 have to pay an extra 10 pounds to drive throught the ultra low emission zone? There has to be less cars because now driving through this place is more expensive.

We answered

Thank you for your email received by us on 22 February 2018 asking for information about the Congestion Charging Zone and the Low Emission Zone.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)] and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

We measure the overall number of vehicles travelling in the Congestion Charging Zone (CCZ). The data is published on a monthly basis here: https://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/vehicles-entering-c-charge-zone-month, which provides the total number of vehicles entering the zone, and the total number of unique vehicles.

Separately, the Congestion Charge and Low Emission Zone Factsheet is published quarterly here under the Finance, Operations and Performance menu : https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/congestion-charge. As for the introduction of the T-Charge, the factsheet now provides information on the average daily number of vehicles entering the Congestion Charging Zone which are not compliant with the T-Charge, and the average rate of compliance with the T-Charge of vehicles entering the zone.

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
