Bus Boarding and Alighting Data Request

Request ID: FOI-4691-2324
Date published: 17 April 2024

You asked

Hi, I'm looking to obtain bus occupancy data for the following services, on an average neutral weekday and Saturday: 11, 22, 319, 19, 211, N11, N22, N19. I would require it in a format that I can build an occupancy profile across the day, for specific bus stops. Do you hold the data to provide the number of boarding and alighting passengers, at each stop on the routes above, for each service? Thank you

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-4691-2324

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 19 March 2024 asking for bus Boarding and Alighting Data for bus routes 11, 22, 319, 19, 211, N11, N22 and N19.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

Please see the requested information in the file attached. This provides the estimated average number of boarding and alighting passengers for each bus stop and trip for the requested bus routes. We have provided the average bus occupancy based on 20 weekdays and four Saturdays in autumn 2023.

The data provided is the estimated bus occupancy based on passengers who used an Oyster or Contactless Payment for their journeys. The number of alighting passengers is inferred. Passengers using paper tickets or not validating upon boarding the bus are not included.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please let me know.
