Dear Sir/Madam, Hi, I am . I am writing to obtain the information regards the number of passenger on Friday for peak and off-peak hours respectively. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I request the following information: The number of passenger on Tube, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line, and National Rail services across London and the southeast RESPECTIVELY, for the peak and off-peak hour separately, for the following period: i) January 2024 ii) February 2024 iii) March 2024 This information should be made available to me in electronic form if possible.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 March 2024 asking for information about passenger numbers on our services in January – March 2024.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked: I am writing to obtain the information regards the number of passenger on Friday for peak and off-peak hours respectively.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I request the following information:

The number of passenger on Tube, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line, and National Rail services across London and the southeast RESPECTIVELY, for the peak and off-peak hour separately, for the following period:


i) January 2024
ii) February 2024
iii) March 2024

Please see the attached file which contains the estimated peak and off peak journeys by mode for January and February 2024, as requested.

Some notes:
  • We don't hold complete data for March 2024 as we are still finalising the data.
  • We don't hold complete data for National Rail as we do not operate these services - it may be possible to obtain this data from the rail industry's Rail Data Marketplace (Rail Data Marketplace)
  • The figures here represent estimated total journeys for Fridays only in each month, on the modes in question, either in peak hours (defined as 0700-1000 and 1600-1900, Monday to Friday) or off peak hours (all other times of day on weekdays, and all day Saturday and Sunday).
  • These are preliminary estimates using a specific methodology which may not match calculations done at a later date or for financial purposes.
