You asked

Could you please advise how many people have been prosecuted for using the bus lane during its hours of operation on the Great Cambidge Road between White Hart Lane N17 and the A406 Cambridge Roundabout N18 in the last 5 years? Also how many people have been fined for the same offence?

We answered

Our ref: FOI-4533-1718/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 14 February 2018 asking for information about the bus lane on the Great Cambridge Road.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

From 1 April 2014 until 31 January 2018, 9895 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) were issued to drivers who were observed driving in a bus lane during hours of operation on Great Cambridge Road between White Hart Lane and the A406 Cambridge Roundabout in both directions.

Please be advised that due to the decriminalised nature of the penalties we issue, a PCN should be regarded as a civil debt and not a fine. As such, we do not prosecute drivers for non-payment rather we have a statutory process in place as recourse to collect outstanding monies owed. This process results in TfL passing each debt to a contracted Enforcement Agency for recovery.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
