Under FOI Act I should like to have the following questions answered:
Firstly - how many buses currently in service are non compliant under Ulez regulations
Secondly - are non compliant buses given a waiver against any Ulez fines
Thirdly - if buses are not exempt from fines, how are fines paid and by whom

Thank you for your request received on 11 March 2024 asking for information about Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) compliant buses.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Since January 2021 the entire bus fleet has met ULEZ standards. This was achieved through a combination of replacing older buses with new Euro VI or zero-emission buses; through bus route tendering between 2016 and 2020; and by retrofitting mid-life buses to meet Euro VI emissions. This retrofitting took place from 2017 to 2020. The companies that retrofitted buses operated by TfL’s contracted London bus operators include: Amminex, Eminox, HJS and Proventia.
