Request ID: FOI-4488-2324 Date published: 26 March 2024
You asked
Please provide a fully documented decision making process and details of the numbers of early terminated #39s between 07:30 and 09:00 on weekdays compared to those who actaully make it unhindered to their destination (i.e. Putney Bridge). I kwno you have these figures and please do not make me enforce a FOI request to get hold of them. Then tyr to argue why me and my stick need to run for other buses when I have one that should be going to my destination!
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-4488-2324
Your correspondence of 6th March 2024 has been passed to me to address the elements requesting recorded information.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Bus Route 39: Please provide a fully documented decision making process and details of the numbers of early terminated #39s between 07:30 and 09:00 on weekdays compared to those who actaully make it unhindered to their destination (i.e. Putney Bridge).”
I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
TfL does not hold a “fully documented process” that determines when buses can be terminated early. There are pre-agreed service control strategies which may involve buses terminating early, to ensure return journeys can start on time and to protect driver’s hours, but the implementation of such strategies on a day to day basis are determined by the operator that runs the particular service.
Regarding the request for details of actual trips operated, please see the spreadsheets attached. You may need to expand the width of some columns to read the data in full. These spreadsheets provide route 39 data for this calendar year (between 1st January 2024 and 8th March 2024). The data is presented by directions and trips (down) and stoppoints (across). The times at stoppoints are shown for buses recorded running in service. Any trips not recorded are marked with “Lost” or “Operated” comments.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely,
