You asked

Hey TfL FOI, Thanks for your response from 2023 wherein you have suggested that some 52 National Rail stations have been expected to receive Contactless Pay As You Go later on through 2023. Now almost a year later in Feb/ March 2024, I just wanted to follow-up on this & request you if you can kindly update me on this, in that: - how many of these 52 stations have been added to the Contactless PAYG system in 2023 (& which ones)? - which stations are the next in line to be added to the map in the next phase of expansion for 2024, and when could we see a new wave of expansion? (no problem if TfL isn't sure about this, I'll ask DfT on this as well as you advised for progress enquiries) - finally, have TfL & the Rail Development Group (as you previously mentioned) reached a conclusion on how the London Rail and Tube Services map will be updated to reflect this expansion yet? Thanks!

Our ref: FOI-4420-2324

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 February 2024 asking for information about the 'London's Rail & Tube services map' and the expansion of contactless card.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. The latest information on the expansion of pay as you go across the south east, including the latest map, can be found here – www.nationalrail.co.uk/peak.

In accordance with the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply the remaining information you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. There is a planned announcement date and further announcements about future stations will be made in due course. This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,
