Our Ref: FOI-4390-2324 / FOI-4391-2324 Thank you for your requests received on 27 February 2024 asking for information about salaries. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. You asked for:
Could I have the median and mean pay for each pay band by gender separately for staff under london underground employment contracts and transport for london employment contracts? Can I have this information for each year going back to 2010.
Could I please get the number of men and women in each pay band separately for staff employed under london underground contracts and transport for london contracts. Can I have this information for each year since 2010.
Please find the requested information attached. Please note the following:
• All data is based on employees in TfL or London Underground Limited company codes • Where no employees exist in with the contract type in the pay band equivalent and gender criteria, there will be no entry for that pay band and gender criteria. For example, in some years under London Underground contracts there are Operational and Band 1 to 4 for females, but under male for that year there are Operational and Band 1 to 5 values.
In accordance with our obligations under Data Protection legislation some personal data has been removed, as required by section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the legislation, specifically the first principle of Article 5 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions which would make the processing ‘fair’.
This exemption to the right of access to information is an absolute exemption and not subject to an assessment of whether the public interest favours use of the exemption.
