Thank you for your request received on 27 February 2024 asking for information about the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

It is a statutory requirement that any net revenue generated by our road charging schemes (the ULEZ, LEZ or the Congestion Charge) is reinvested back into London’s transport network, including investing in improving transport links in outer London. All money received from the ULEZ is reinvested into improving London’s public transport network, such as expanding bus routes in outer London.

You asked:

We publish information on income generated by all of our Road User Charging schemes in our Annual Report:

Information for the latest complete financial year will be published in due course.

Moreover, Data on the costs of implementation and Expansion of the ULEZ would be appreciated too.

•           Initial scheme implementation in April 2019 was £120m-£130m. More information is available in a response to a previous query:

•           The October 2021 expansion was at a cost of £115m, more information can be found on the GLA website:
