Image Processing Techniques used in Traffic Cameras
Request ID: FOI-4342-2324 Date published: 18 March 2024
You asked
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is XXX and I am an undergraduate student at XXX, studying Computer Science. My project is titled ‘Image deblurring for improved Object Detection and Classification using Convolutional Neural Networks in traffic congestion control’ and aims to assess whether deblurring of images before inputting into a neural network would improve accuracy of the overall detection and classification capabilities of the system, particularly in traffic control systems.
I would like to know, if possible, which image processing techniques are currently used in TfL's roadside traffic cameras and specifically which deblurring algorithms (if any) are utilised.
This information will be vital for me to select an appropriate deblurring algorithm to use in my application.
Thank you in advance for any information you are able to provide.
