Request ID: FOI-4056-2324 Date published: 26 February 2024
You asked
Dear TFL Streetworks,
Please would you explain why the works which cause so much disruption on A3 at New Malden are not being conducted in the evening and overnight as well as the day?
Is the pollution caused by the backed up traffic taken account of in the emissions figures for TfL?
Is it counted in the emissions for the gas supplier conducting the works?
Thanks.
Adam

Our ref: FOI-4056-2324/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 7 February 2024 asking for information about road works on the A3.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
We assume you are referring to the emergency gas works which were 22nd - 30th January, making repairs to a 24” medium pressure main. SGN were resourcing the works overnight when they could. One of the repairs required a specialist fabrication and so there was a period of time where little works could be undertaken while this was being manufactured. Likewise once the repairs were made there was a period of concrete curing where it would have appeared no works were taking place. We were in constant communication with SGN to ensure works were being undertaken and completed as quickly as possible.
We do not hold information on pollution/emissions for specific roadworks.
Please let me know if this is not the information you are looking for. If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
