Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2nd February 2024 (as clarified on 18th February 2024) asking for information about black cab drivers licences.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Please can you supply the latest figures for the amount of Black Cab drivers that have had their licences revoked or suspended for different reasons”. This was clarified as relating to the year 2023.
I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
With regards to ‘suspensions’, TfL does not hold this information. Suspensions are temporary and either expire, are overturned, or result in licence revocations. The current licence status shows on our system, overwriting the suspension, and we are therefore unable to say how many suspensions there were for the year 2023.
