You asked
F/on from FOI-3599
Dear TfL
Thank you for providing me the information I've mostly requested. On the weekend usage levels, I would like to further request usage occupancy from the capacity provided.
Whilst you've provided me to another FOI containing bus usage from capacity provided on both Saturdays and Sundays, it wasn't specific to which times of the days it was.
Please provide data information of bus usage occupancy from the capacity provided in the early mornings before 0900, day levels from 0900 to 1900 as well evenings beyond 1900. This is for both Saturdays and Sundays.

Our ref: FOI-3958-2324/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 January 2024 asking for information about bus usage occupancy levels.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Please see attached the two files containing busiest hour, location and direction for each route and time period on a Saturday and Sunday, and the resulting peak bus occupancy (calculated as the hourly bus load divided by the hourly bus capacity). We define the busiest hour as the hour with the maximum hourly bus load and the busiest location and direction is based on the highest bus occupancy during the busiest hour. Note that as the busiest hour is based on the maximum hourly load, this does not mean this is equivalent to the highest bus occupancy. Please note the data we hold use the period 05:00-10:00 for Saturday and Sunday morning, and 10:00-19:00 for Saturday and Sunday midday.
The data comes from the 2022/23 Period 9 dataset which holds a snapshot of bus demand during the month of November 2022, the Saturday and Sunday values being the average of multiple Saturdays and Sundays throughout this period. Typically we would use a number of Saturday and Sunday dates to determine this average but due to the prevalence of industrial action throughout this period, only two Saturday and Sunday dates were available during this period so there are constraints to the data attached in terms of how representative it is of a typical Saturday and Sunday in November 2022.
Please let me know if this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
