Is the paperboard printed advertising material, used inside London Underground train carriages and up escalators, fully compliant with TFL's own fire safety specification S1085? If not, what fire specification does it meet, if any? What is being done to conform to TFL's full fire specification?
This request is due to serious fire safety concerns on the London Underground.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23 March 2020 asking if the paperboard printed advertising material used inside London Underground train carriages and up escalators is fully compliant with TFL's own fire safety specification S1085 and if not, what fire specification it meets, if any? What is being done to conform to TFL's full fire specification?
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
The printed paperboard advertising material is fully compliant with all the relevant fire safety requirements for use inside London Underground rolling stock and up along the escalators.
With regards to future requests, please note that the Government has announced a series of measures to tackle the Coronavirus. It is essential for London, and in particular for all critical workers, that we continue to provide a safe transport network that enables them to make the journeys they need to.
