EL3 was supposed to be extended towards Northgate Road via the Crossness Road Bridge by Spring 2023. Its now January 2024 and there hasn't been any progress since they halted it. Do you know the reason behind it and when we likely get the extension in place?
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-3905-2324
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 28th January 2024 asking for information about the EL3 bus route. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“EL3 Crossness Road Bridge: EL3 was supposed to be extended towards Northgate Road via the Crossness Road Bridge by Spring 2023. Its now January 2024 and there hasn't been any progress since they halted it. Do you know the reason behind it and when we likely get the extension in place?”.
The re-routing is dependent upon completion of the bridge between Crossness Road and Handley Page Road. TfL is keen to see the completion of that bridge link as it would allow for one bus service to take a more efficient route between the Barking Riverside development and Barking Town Centre. However, delivery of the bridge is the responsibility of Barking Riverside Limited and we would therefore suggest that your question about estimated timing is directed to them, as no such estimate is held by TfL.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
