You asked

I am writing to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I seek information pertaining to the Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) bollards installed at the newly redeveloped Old Street roundabout. Specifically, I would like to know: 1. The total number of HVM bollards installed at the Old Street roundabout. 2. The individual and total cost of these HVM bollards. 3. The cost of installation for these HVM bollards. This information is essential for understanding the investment made in public safety infrastructure in this area. Please provide a breakdown of the costs and quantities, if available. If my request is too wide or unclear, or if the information is held by another public body, I would be grateful if you could advise me under your Section 16 obligation. Thank you for your assistance with this matter. I look forward to your response within the statutory 20 working days as outlined by the Act.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 28 January 2024 asking for information about Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) bollards.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we do hold some the information you require. You asked:

1. The total number of HVM bollards installed at the Old Street roundabout.

There are 120 HVM bollards installed at Old Street.

2. The individual and total cost of these HVM bollards.

Total cost is £337,800 (rounded).
Average individual cost is £2,815 (rounded).

3. The cost of installation for these HVM bollards.

We are unable to provide the information requested as installation works are carried out by the Contractor at different times throughout the programme and in parallel with other surface works in the public space.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
